Host Site

The 2025 WEGA Amateur Championship will be held at Danville Golf Club in Danville, Virginia.
Danville Golf Club is located in the southwest corner of Virginia, just north of the North Carolina state line, between Lynchburg, VA, and Greensboro, NC.

Founded in 1916, the club was designed by legendary architect Donald Ross and remains an outstanding test for golfers of all skill levels. The club has hosted major tournaments, including:

  • Virginia State Open
  • Men’s and Women’s State Amateurs
  • Women’s State Team Matches
  • State Junior Championships
  • Collegiate events

Danville Golf Club is widely recognized as one of Virginia’s oldest and most prestigious clubs.

Entry Requirements

The Championship is open to female amateur golfers who meet both of the following criteria:

  1. Certified Handicap Index of 11.5 or Less
  2. Affiliation with a WEGA Member Club or School that has paid WEGA dues for 2025

Membership Dues

  • $35 nonrefundable dues for each club or school must be paid by June 9, 2025.
  • A contestant may pay dues for her club if her club has not yet done so.

Entry Deadline & Field Size

  • Entries Open: April 1, 2025
  • Entry Deadline: June 2, 2025 (5:00 PM)
  • Field Limit: 80 players

Entries will be accepted in the order they are received, provided all entry requirements are met. To be considered complete, an entry must include the entry form, handicap verification, and entry fee payment. The first 80 players who meet these requirements will be accepted into the field.

Players can expect to receive their acceptance by email within 7 days of completing the entry process.

If more than 80 entries are received, additional players will be placed on a waiting list in order of submission. If the field is not full on or before June 2, entries will remain open for several days. Relevant information will be available on the website or you may call either Shelley Savage or Jan Sutherland.

💡 Tip: Enter before May 1st to assist with planning and ensure your spot in the field.

The Committee has sole discretion in accepting or rejecting contestants, as well as in assigning a position on the waiting list.

Handicap Verification

To complete the entry process, each contestant must provide handicap verification. The Committee will evaluate the completeness and currency of the handicap record, along with the player’s performance in other tournaments when determining entry acceptance and waiting list placement.

Players may submit their GHIN number, or a PGA/LPGA professional or golf coach may provide tournament records that demonstrate the contestant’s ability to compete at this level.

WEGA Membership

  • Only clubs or schools can be WEGA members. There are no individual memberships.
  • If your club/school is not listed, you may pay the $35 dues via:

Format and Other Conditions of Competition

  • The Championship is 54 holes of stroke play. There is no cut and there are no flights.
  • Caddies are not permitted. Players may ride in golf carts (included in entry fee), use a pull cart, or carry their own bag.
  • WEGA has adopted the Local Rule on groove specifications recommended for elite amateur competitions. Players with questions about this Rule or its application to their golf clubs should consult the USGA website.

Dress Code:

  • Players and spectators are expected to abide by the dress code of the Host Club.
  • Please do not wear tank tops, tee shirts, or denim on golf course property.
  • Men are required to wear collared shirts.
  • Spectators will not be allowed to use golf carts for viewing play.
  • The use of personal scooter carts for those with disabilities is permitted.

Championship Entries & Fees

  • Entry Fee: $290
  • Includes:
    • Cart fees and range balls for the three days of the Championship and applies even if a contestant chooses to utilize a pull cart or carry her own bag.
    • Welcome Barbeque.
  • Practice round fee must be paid separately as it is not included in the entry fee; the practice round fee does include cart and range balls.
  • Please note that the WEGA membership dues for Clubs and Schools are different from and not included in the entry fee. Please see the section entitled WEGA MEMBERSHIP for more information on the annual membership dues.

Cancellation & Refund Policy

  • Before May 12: Full refund minus a $25 processing fee
  • May 12 – May 30: $90 refund
  • After May 30: No refunds
  • Those on the waiting list who do not gain entry into the tournament will receive a full refund.

Registration & Late Arrival

All contestants must register on Monday, June 9, 2025, between 8:00 AM – 1:30 PM at Danville Golf Club. Failure to register during this time may result in forfeiture of your place with no refund.

If you anticipate a late arrival, you must notify Shelley Savage or Jan Sutherland by phone prior to the registration deadline. Emails or phone calls to the club will not be accepted.

Practice Rounds

  • Practice rounds are available on Monday, June 9 and can be scheduled after your entry has been accepted.
  • Call Danville Golf Club at 📞 434-792-7225 to schedule.
  • Practice round fee is not included in the entry fee and must be paid separately.
  • Practice rounds on other days can be arranged through the Pro Shop.
  • Contestants are responsible for paying for each practice round upon check-in.
  • To receive the WEGA rate, contestants should identify themselves as WEGA players when booking.

Prizes & Awards

🏆 Awards Based on 54-Hole Gross Score

  • Champion’s Name will be engraved on the permanent trophy.
  • Champion receives a commemorative medal.
  • Other prizes include gift cards.
  • Junior Champion will be awarded.

🏅 Osgood Shield Team Stroke Play Award

  • The Osgood Shield team stroke play award is held concurrently with the Championship.
  • Teams are announced at the Monday BBQ.
  • The team with the lowest aggregate score after Rounds 1 & 2 wins the Osgood Shield.
  • Prizes are awarded to the winning team, and their names will be engraved on the Shield.
